was built in 1974 to honour
the memory of the third King, Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. There are
numerous religious paintings and complex tantric statues inside,
reflecting both peaceful and wrathful aspects of Buddhist deities.
It
is in capital city Thimphu. It was built as a summer capital. Now,
it houses the Throne room of Druk Gyalpo, and offices of some
Ministers
Established in 1967, The library is situated in the capital city,
Thimphu.The collection of the National Library consists of over
82,000 volumes of Buddhist texts in Chokay.
A 19th century three-storey traditional rammed mud and timber house
in Kawangjangsa, Thimphu, was turned into a folk heritage museum to
document traditional Bhutanese lifestyle.
Bhutan’s first textile museum was opened by Her Majesty the Queen
Ashi Sangay Choden Wangchuck.The
textile museum has opened its exhibition on six major themes -
warp pattern weaves, weft pattern weaves, role of textiles in
religion, achievements in textile arts, textiles from indigenous
fibres and the royal collection.
